Behind the Barn Doors

The West Baton Rouge Museum is pleased to host, Behind the Barn Doors, a quarterly series offering workshops and demonstrations ranging from farm chores to blacksmithing, basket weaving, woodworking, fiber art demonstrations, and more. The next iteration will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 2 - 5 PM. Guests are invited into the Big Red Barn on the museum’s campus to watch hammer making demonstration led by our resident blacksmith, Ben Deshotels. Come watch a lump of steel be transformed into a new hammer that will be used to craft other tools and works of art in our blacksmith shop.

The Behind the Barn Doors program is FREE and open to the public.
